Professional Experience

As an associate in the firm's Intellectual Property Department, Charlie focuses his practice on obtaining and protecting all types of intellectual property rights. In particular, he assists clients in preparing and prosecuting foreign and domestic patent applications in the mechanical and electrical arts, including patents related to automotive powertrains, automotive chassis and suspensions, medical sensing technologies, implantable stent devices and prosthetics, jet propulsion systems, and key cutting technologies.

Charlie also has experience drafting and prosecuting trademark applications, analyzing trademark infringement, drafting software and patent license agreements, preparing legal opinions on intellectual property matters, conducting Intellectual Property due diligence in merger and acquisition transactions, and assisting in patent, trademark and copyright litigation matters.

Prior to attending law school, Charlie worked for four years as an electrical engineer in the field of industrial controls. He also served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Judge Patricia A. Gaughan of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
