Overview
Ashley is a Member in the firm’s Strategic Advisory and Restructuring Department. She has over a decade of insolvency experience, including representing consumer and business debtors, creditors and trustees in bankruptcy proceedings, contested matters and adversary proceedings. She also represents purchasers of distressed assets in distressed workouts and provides general business counseling in non-distressed settings to a variety of businesses and business owners.
Ashley was selected for inclusion in the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list (2023 – 2024).
Before joining McDonald Hopkins, Ashley gained experience as a shared law clerk at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, law clerk to Hon. Walter Shapero (ret.) in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and as an associate attorney at a metro-Detroit bankruptcy and litigation firm.
Ashley earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Western Michigan Cooley Law School in 2008, where she served as the associate editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review. She received a B.A. in political science from Washington and Jefferson College in 2004.

Aearo Technologies LLC – Represented disinterested directors of Aearo Technologies LLC and its debtor affiliates, a market leader in the energy control space, in their chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.

Pipeline Health Systems, LLC – Represented disinterested directors of Pipeline Health System, LLC and its affiliates, operators of “safety net” hospitals and health clinics, in their chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.

Nordic Aviation Capital – Represented disinterested directors of Nordic Aviation Capital A/S in the chapter 11 cases of Nordic Aviation Designated Activity Company and its subsidiaries, a large regional aircraft lessor.

Intelsat S.A. – Represented the special committee of the board of Intelsat S.A. in connection with the chapter 11 cases of Intelsat and its debtor affiliates, the operators of the world’s largest satellite fleet and connectivity infrastructure.

Francesca’s Holdings Corporation (clothing retailer) - Represented private equity firm in purchasing substantially all of the debtors’ assets under section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code in chapter 11 cases in Delaware. Negotiated lease amendments for commercial leases.

Mishti Holdings, LLC (California-based candy retailer) - Represented private equity firm in purchasing substantially all of debtors’ assets under section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code in chapter 11 cases in Delaware.

Sugarfina, Inc. (California-based candy retailer) – Represented private equity firm in submitting a bid for substantially all of debtor Sugarfina, Inc.’s assets under section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code in chapter 11 cases in Delaware.
