Record high water levels are causing millions of dollars of damage to lakeshore properties.  In some cases the damage is so extensive that without repair and mitigation projects, homeowners are in jeopardy of losing their residences. Thankfully, in 2019 the Ohio General Assembly passed legislation to allow lakefront homeowners to create special improvement districts (“SIDs”) to voluntarily assess their property to create funding for erosion control projects. This funding is repaid through the assessment. Now, here in 2021, the Ohio General Assembly is in the finals stages of extending the special improvement legislation to all the watersheds in the state.

In this one-hour webinar presented by McDonald Hopkins Public Law Practice Group, McDonald Hopkins attorneys Amanda Gordon and Mike Wise will be joined by Lake County Administrator Jason Boyd and Vice President/Area Manager for Lake County of ERIEBANK, Tim Flenner, to describe the new funding and how it can be accessed.
