Executive compensation attorney Benjamin D. Panter joins the Chicago office of McDonald Hopkins

CHICAGO, Illinois
(February 4, 2015)  Benjamin D. Panter, formerly a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, has been elected as a Member at McDonald Hopkins LLC, a business advisory and advocacy  law firm with an 85-year history and a growing presence in Chicago. 

Based in McDonald Hopkins’ Chicago office, Panter joins the firm’s national Executive Compensation and Governance Practice, which advises public and private companies, start-ups, entrepreneurs, and executives across a range of industries. 

For the past eight years, Panter has advised clients across a broad spectrum of industries on executive compensation and employment law issues that arise from public and private M&A and private equity transactions, restructurings, debt and equity financings, and IPOs. He counsels clients on employment and compensation matters, as well as restrictive covenant enforcement, corporate governance, securities, tax, regulatory, and compliance issues. Panter also has extensive experience negotiating management team deals, advising compensation committees and negotiating and drafting severance, change in control and retention arrangements.

Panter earned a J.D. with high honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law where he was recognized with Order of the Coif, served on the Chicago-Kent Law Review and was a member of the Bar and Gavel Society. He also earned an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law and Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees, cum laude, from Miami University.  Panter has been named a Rising Star in “Super Lawyers” magazine in both New York and Illinois, and is an adjunct professor at a Chicago law school teaching Executive Compensation law.
