CHICAGO (October 3, 2017) – McDonald Hopkins LLC, a business advisory and advocacy law firm, has announced that David A. Agay has been named the new Managing Member of the Chicago office. Agay is an accomplished corporate restructuring attorney who previously served as the office’s assistant managing member. He succeeds Richard N. Kessler, who served as the Chicago managing member since 2007.

“Since joining McDonald Hopkins in 2011, David has further established himself both regionally and nationally as a leading restructuring attorney and has contributed to the growth of our Chicago office,” said Shawn M. Riley, president of McDonald Hopkins. “I am confident that he will help us continue to grow in Chicago.”

“McDonald Hopkins is committed to the Chicago market,” stated Agay. “As a firm, we see tremendous opportunity to partner with middle-market clients both regionally and nationally. As managing member, I will work to expand the McDonald Hopkins brand in Chicago.”

McDonald Hopkins joined the Chicago market in 2007 when it merged with the law firm Harris Kessler & Goldstein, which was founded in 1995. In 2010, the firm moved to 300 North LaSalle Street to accommodate growth and expansion.

Agay is licensed in Illinois and New York. He practices in the areas of business restructuring, business counseling, commercial finance, mergers and acquisitions and distressed M&A. He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association.

He has been a recipient of several awards, such as being named one of the Best Lawyers in America and was selected for inclusion in Illinois Rising Stars and Illinois Super Lawyers.

Agay earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He received a B.A. from Pomona College.
