McDonald Hopkins welcomes data privacy and cybersecurity attorney Deana Alegi
McDonald Hopkins welcomes Deana Alegi to the Litigation Department and as part of the firm’s national Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group.
"I am very excited to focus primarily on data privacy and cybersecurity matters, and I am thrilled to be working with such a collaborative and welcoming practice group," said Deana.
Prior to joining McDonald Hopkins, she served as a shared law clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida. Her legal background also includes legal internships with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Universal Creative, and Raymond James Financial. She is accredited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Certified Information Privacy Professional for the United States (CIPP/US), the gold standard in information privacy. She is also an active member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, where she serves as a KnowledgeNet Young Privacy Professional.
"I love that data privacy and cybersecurity is a constantly evolving area of law that sits at the intersection of technology, business, and the law. There is always something new to learn, which keeps the work dynamic and intellectually engaging. My practice will primarily focus on incident response where I will help various organizations manage and navigate data breaches along with other cybersecurity incidents."
Deana earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law and received a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Central Florida. Throughout her time in school, she received the Outstanding Editor Award from the Stetson Business Law Review, spent time as a teaching assistant in Real Property, was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society and Middle Eastern and North African Law Student Association.
