News
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MIAMI – Richard Guerra has joined the Intellectual Property department as a member at McDonald Hopkins LLC, a business advisory and advocacy law firm.

Based in the firm’s Miami office, Guerra comes to McDonald Hopkins with 13 years of intellectual property and commercial litigation experience, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation.

Guerra is the second intellectual property attorney to recently join McDonald Hopkins’ Miami office.  Rafael Perez-Pineiro, a former colleague of Guerra’s, came on board last month.  Guerra and Perez-Pineiro have joined a national team of more than 30 intellectual property attorneys and professionals. Both were previously at the boutique firm, Feldman Gale, which recently merged into Cozen O’Connor.

Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Guerra is Board Certified as a Specialist in Intellectual Property Law by the Florida Bar.  He has litigated on behalf of leading utility companies and medical device manufacturers in both federal and state court. In addition, Guerra has extensive experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications for a variety of industries and technologies, such as medical devices, mechanical devices and chemical processes.

“Richard is another exceptional addition to our large and growing intellectual property team,” said Raquel “Rocky” Rodriguez, managing member of the firm’s Miami office. “His expertise across many industries and technologies adds to the strength of the department and adds a further dimension due to his ability to litigate in Spanish as well as English. Our office now has three senior fully bilingual intellectual property lawyers, which will help us continue to grow our IP work to serve clients in Miami and throughout Latin America.”

Guerra earned a J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 2003 and received a B.S. in cell and molecular biology from Tulane University in 1999.
