McDonald Hopkins welcomes attorney Michael Glennon to its Intellectual Property Department
McDonald Hopkins is proud to welcome attorney Michael Glennon to its Intellectual Property Department. Michael is a part of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group.
“I am thrilled to be joining a top-notch team of Intellectual Property litigators who not only know the law, but also how to collaborate effectively. Members of a good team can add their efforts together, but great teams like the IP litigators at McDonald Hopkins are more than just the sum of their parts,” Michael said.
His practice focuses on all intellectual property litigation, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. He has represented corporate clients in intellectual property disputes in federal and state courts and has experience managing all stages of IP-related litigation. Michael has assisted with patent prosecution matters involving medical devices, pharmaceutical compositions, chemical engineering systems and mechanical technologies.
Michael said he approaches every client matter with clear communication.
“I view my role as similar to that of a doctor. My job is to understand the relevant facts, diagnose the legal issues facing the client, help the client make an informed choice on a plan to remedy that issue that is right for them, and implement that plan to the best of my ability using the tools at my disposal. To do this right, I work to make sure that lines of communication are always open so that I can get all of the information I need to not only diagnose the issue correctly at the outset, but also to ensure that we can adapt to any new information that might require a change in plans as the litigation progresses,” he said.
His litigation experience includes helping overturn a jury verdict that saved a client more than $24 million in a copyright dispute, as well as obtaining early dismissal of defamation claims against a media organization. He also regularly helps clients resolve trademark disputes through strategic settlement negotiations, often avoiding costly and prolonged litigation.
“Michael’s experience and approach to client work make him a strong addition to our team. He also values the collaborative culture that defines our practice. We are excited to welcome him to McDonald Hopkins and look forward to the contributions he will make to the firm,” said David Cupar, Chair of the Intellectual Property Department.
Michael also brings a strong scientific foundation from his research experience at Indiana University, where he synthesized and analyzed nanoparticles and developed advanced technical research and data analysis skills. In addition, he obtained a graduate certificate in cybersecurity law and policy from Indiana University, focusing both on the legal and technical aspects of cybersecurity.
