Team McDonald Hopkins raises nearly $70,000 for Komen Detroit Race for the Cure

News

For the third consecutive year, McDonald Hopkins’ Detroit office showed up in a big way for the Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure.

In the months leading up to Saturday’s race, McDonald Hopkins employees across our offices came together to support Susan G. Komen’s mission and raise awareness for the impact breast cancer has on individuals and families. This year, we were proud to serve as the event’s largest corporate fundraiser and, through our team's combined efforts, raise nearly $70,000 for the cause.

Susan G. Komen is the world’s leading breast cancer organization, working across research, community health, global outreach and public policy to help address breast cancer from every angle and make a lasting impact for those affected by the disease.

McDonald Hopkins Co-President James Giszczak, who also serves on the Board of Directors for Susan G. Komen Michigan, has been a longtime supporter of the organization. Jim and his wife, Janet, were also the top two individual fundraisers for this year’s race.

During an interview with WDIV Local 4 Detroit, Jim shared why the cause is so meaningful to him and the McDonald Hopkins team.

“We’re there to celebrate survivors, support those who are fighting and honor those who have passed,” Jim said. “And most importantly, we want to raise funds so that one day we’re not racing for the cure, but celebrating the cure.”
