Overview

Jennifer is Counsel in McDonald Hopkins’ Litigation Department and a part of the firm’s nationally recognized Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group. Her practice focuses on pre-breach, HIPAA compliance, incident response, and regulatory investigations. She enjoys helping organizations prepare for potential incidents before they occur, guiding them through data security incidents when they do arise, and assisting clients in responding to regulatory inquiries and investigations.

Jennifer leads and manages complex cybersecurity incident response matters and regulatory investigations involving ransomware, business email compromise, unauthorized access and other privacy and security incidents. She advises healthcare providers and other regulated organizations on compliance with HIPAA, state data breach notification laws and other federal requirements.

Before Jennifer entered private practice, she spent nearly a decade as an investigator with the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights. There she investigated HIPAA breach notifications and other privacy and security compliance matters. More recently, she has represented healthcare providers, health plans, and business associates in incident response matters and in navigating Office for Civil Rights investigations and enforcement actions.

Her experience includes resolving a multi-year breach investigation involving more than 100,000 affected individuals and multiple facilities, leading post-resolution monitoring for a major healthcare system following highly publicized data breaches, and managing investigations involving systemic privacy and security deficiencies.

She received a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School and a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts.
