Overview
Joe is an Associate in McDonald Hopkins’ Litigation Department and a part of the national Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group. His practice focuses on matters related to incident response, regulatory investigations and defense, and data privacy compliance.
Prior to joining McDonald Hopkins, Joe worked in cybersecurity and data privacy consulting, where he led engagements spanning end-to-end privacy transformation, technology transactions, and regulatory investigations and compliance for Fortune Global 500 and Fortune China Tech 50 companies.
As part of his work, Joe has advised clients on data privacy rights and strategies, implemented privacy-enhancing technologies and artificial intelligence solutions, devised control frameworks and technical architecture diagrams, and supported a number of privacy and data sovereignty programs, all with the goal of driving compliance at pace and scale with his client’s business.
In addition to his Juris Doctor, Joe holds a Master of Science in Cybersecurity Risk Management, which gives him a strong technical grasp of the systems at the center of data privacy and cybersecurity.
Joe earned his joint JD/MS from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he served as the Executive Development Editor of the law review. His research has appeared in the Stanford Technology Law Review, the Alabama Law Review, and the Indiana Law Journal. He received his BA in Political Economy from Rhodes College, where he competed on the nation’s top-ranked undergraduate mock trial team.
