McDonald Hopkins welcomes attorney Luca Giovine to its Litigation Department
McDonald Hopkins is proud to welcome attorney Luca Giovine to its Litigation Department and Business Litigation Practice Group. Luca focuses his practice on all aspects of commercial litigation, with an emphasis on helping clients proactively manage risk and avoid costly disputes.
McDonald Hopkins is his destination firm because of its high-caliber attorneys and support staff.
“McDonald Hopkins has everything that exceptional litigators need to serve their clients. The team here and the firm’s structure are of the highest quality. I know I will be challenged every day and be able to achieve at the highest level. Not to mention, the culture is one where people are valued and invested in,” he said.
Luca regularly advises businesses on pre-litigation strategies, guiding clients through potential legal issues in a way that aligns with their broader business objectives. When litigation is necessary, he represents clients in a wide range of business disputes, including matters involving suppliers, vendors, customers, competitors, and internal shareholder conflicts. His approach is both strategic and practical, ensuring clients are well-positioned at every stage.
“I love that there are never two identical cases. Each case deserves its own unique consideration of the facts and interactions with the law. That in itself creates space for dynamic, challenging, and rewarding work. Clients put their absolute trust in you, and I enjoy advocating for their legal rights and their businesses,” said Luca.
Luca brings courtroom and motion practice experience to his commercial litigation work, having litigated multiple bench and jury trials through verdict. His experience spans complex procedural and substantive matters, including successfully defending a multi-jurisdictional motion to compel involving a third-party subpoena under the Federal Arbitration Act, as well as securing remand to administrative court after prevailing on a contested removal to federal court. He has also achieved favorable outcomes in high-stakes business disputes, including defeating fraudulent transfer claims in a multi-trust dispute, obtaining summary judgment on behalf of a corporate client involving alleged agency liability, and successfully dismissing a defamation case involving heightened pleading standards.
Luca is a “big picture” attorney who prides himself on being thoroughly prepared at every stage of a matter, including trial. Even when a case may be positioned for early resolution, his forward-looking, strategic approach ensures clients are operating from a position of strength both before and during litigation.
“We are thrilled to have Luca on the team and know his hard work, passion, and innovative way of thinking not only align with McDonald Hopkins as a whole but will greatly benefit our clients. We look forward to his continued growth,” said Stephen Rosenfeld, the co-chair of the Business Litigation Practice Group.
