McDonald Hopkins welcomes litigator Christine Dimitriou

News

MIAMI– McDonald Hopkins, a business advisory and advocacy law firm, welcomes litigator Christine M. Dimitriou to the Miami office as an associate.

Dimitriou has over six years of litigation experience representing Fortune 500 companies in federal court. She served as second chair during jury and bench trials in passenger disputes in the maritime/transportation industry, including class actions, contract disputes, sexual assaults and passenger overboard claims.

Dimitriou has also served as second chair in international arbitrations, representing the major cruise lines in their crewmember claims, including labor and employment disputes and serious personal injury claims. Notably, Dimitriou represented Carnival Corporation during Cassie Terry v. Carnival Corporation, a suit which began as a potential class action, but ultimately resulted in a federal trial with over 30 plaintiffs, and which received significant media attention. She played a key role in defeating the class certification and served in the three lawyer federal trial team representing Carnival Cruise Line, the largest cruise line in the world.

Dimitriou earned her J.D., cum laude, from the St. Thomas University School of Law in 2012, where she was the president and founder of the St. Thomas Maritime Law Society and the editor for the St. Thomas Law Review. She also received a B.S. in Psychology, with honors, from Florida International University in 2008.

Dimitriou can be reached at cdimitriou@mcdonaldhopkins.com or 305.704.3985.
